Our Middle Schoolers have never shined more brightly - literally!

Our Million Solar Stars and Changemakers X-Block electives just completed a Solar Lights for Peace - Build 1 Give 1 Workshop! ISDenver Middle School Faculty, Adam Hall, brought this initiative to ISDenver. He shared:

As part of my role with the non-profit Million Solar Stars (MSS) and after drawing inspiration from service learning trips to Kenya and Inner Mongolia, I have helped develop and lead several Solar Lights for Peace - Build 1 Give 1 (B1G1) Workshops over the last few years.  This is one practical way we work towards the Million Solar Stars mission to engage students in the process of scaling up solar power at schools globally. The Build 1 Give 1 workshops are fun, engaging, and hands-on as participants learn about engineering and design while building solar lights.

This STEAM-based activity aimed to take meaningful and scalable action to improve social, educational, and environmental justice. With the help of an Educator's Mini-Grant from Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots, students received a solar light and a student in extreme poverty without access to electricity also received a factory built solar light. Not only will this help a student be able to do their homework at night, but the light will also extinguish a kerosene lamp to avoid toxic emissions and reduce the risk of fires and burns.

Solar Lights for Peace provides a platform for students to learn about clean energy and take action as changemakers, all while bringing more light to education and emergency relief efforts around the world.

The Solar Lights for Peace (SLFP) initiative utilizes solar lights for education and emergency relief, and is a collaboration between Million Solar Stars, Namene Solar, and the CleanTech Business Club.  

We are so proud of our students for supporting the Solar Lights for Peace mission to bring solar energy and education to one million students across the globe.
