Dragon's Den Updates & SAGE Dining Information

  • Last year's Community Giving campaign raised funds for the transformation of our current Lower School basement into the Dragon's Den: A sought-out destination for gathering with friends, colleagues, and fellow parents; anchored by a contemporary commercial kitchen; surrounded by art that celebrates our learners & community complemented by a state-of-the-art audio/visual system; and featuring lunch and event catering from a leading independent school dining group (SAGE dining) that values locally sourced, whole foods prepared by professional chefs. Plus, cultures connect over food – it’s a global language!
     
  • Learners, parents, and visitors will experience an inspired educational, meeting, presentation, and social gathering space designed to last through the years.    
     
  • Now is the time for ISDenver to have a true community space – somewhere for children, faculty, and staff to all connect across the many cultures we represent and embrace!

Introducing Our New Food Services Director, Brice Potter

We are thrilled to welcome Brice Potter to the ISDenver community as our new Food Services Director with SAGE Dining! Brice has over 13 years of experience in the food industry ranging from fine dining acclaimed restaurants in Dallas, TX to leading large teams over the prepared foods department for Whole Foods and Central Markets. Brice’s early years were spent working in family-owned restaurants, and he has taken his passion for food and paved a long career in balancing creative culinary experiences and a leadership style that fosters high performing teams resulting in exceptional customer service. Trained in French culinary technique, Brice enjoys preparing a wide variety of food ranging from elevated French experiences to soul-satisfying home cooking - often times combining the two!

Recently, we sent some of of our faculty and staff to Dawson School to try SAGE Dining in person - and they were truly blown away by the cuisine! Some reviews:

"It was hard to believe that I was actually eating "cafeteria food". I was blown away by the quality and flavor of the food, let alone the number of options that were offered. There was freshly grilled salmon on the salad bar!! I couldn't get enough of the lemongrass and dill spa water, and I was so sad I didn't have my water bottle to fill up and take with me! I can't wait for my kids to experience SAGE!"

"I don't even know where to start....well, the food was A-MA-ZING! I am a foodie and I am very picky when it comes to food. When I heard "cafeteria food", I have to be honest with you, I was very skeptical about the whole experience, but SAGE is anything but! I love the fact that there are healthy options for every member of the community regardless of allergies or dietary restrictions (beautiful display of pasta, meat/fish/seafood, sandwich bar, gluten free, peanut free options, fresh fruits...). I had a green salad with salmon, seeds, crisp and flavorful balsamic-glazed brussels sprouts, half an avocado, sauteed shrimp packed with flavor and yet with very little oil. And I had to try the vegetarian wild rice soup and wow! Delicious! All the different flavors worked together beautifully! I also love the fact that they recycle and have their own compost. I could go on and on... Don't let the word "cafeteria" fool you, SAGE's food is delicious and I am grateful we get to have it at ISDenver!"

"I would add that I was very impressed with how conscientious they were about lowering their footprint.  They were very organized with their cleaning stations that included trash, recycling, and compost. They also try to go without single use items and if they have them the were compostable (like the straws).  They also shared how they prepare the food in-house such as roasting their own turkey breast and chickens.  I am excited to see how we can work with them in the classroom.  They not only serve food but they also work to educate kids about nutrition and the food industry."  -MYP Science Teacher

All About SAGE Dining

The commercial kitchen will radically change our lunch service and catering options. Lunch will be prepared fresh, on-site, batch cooked, and with a variety of foods to choose from daily, thanks to our new partnership with SAGE Dining. With SAGE we are able to provide our community the best nutritional value and variety - as well as education about positive choices with locally sourced food.
