A New World Awaits Your Child This Summer!

Every week at the International School of Denver, your child will explore the world while moving their body, expanding their mind, developing new skills, and forming new friendships. From language immersion to STEAM to athletics, ISDenver Summer Camps has something for every camper. 

New camp options are offered each week, giving you the flexibility to pick and choose the camps that work best for your summer plans. Whichever ISDenver camp you choose, your child will thrive in a safe and supportive learning environment. 

Camps are offered in English, French, Chinese, and Spanish, including options like Camp Invention, Movie Making, Hula Hooping and Circus Arts, STEM Challenge, Seed Science, and more! (No prior language experience is required for participation.) Plus, weekly field trips around Colorado!

  • Ages: 3-14 (Camp/Extended Day Workshops) Children attending any 5-and-up camp must turn 5 by the start of that week’s camp. All children must be potty trained.
  • Cost: $325/week, unless otherwise noted

ISDenver Summer Camps run all summer, with camp themes changing weekly. Participants may sign up for the entire summer or pick and choose individual weeks.

There are two types of camps offered at ISDenver - Language and Variety. For Language camps, participants will first choose the camp theme, then choose the camp language (French, Chinese, or Spanish). All Variety camps are presented in English.

Each camp includes hands-on activities and a weekly field trip that complement the camp theme!

Camp Descriptions

AGES 3-4

Is your child interested in exploring or continuing to build their skills in a second (or third!) language over the summer? ISDenver Summer Language camps are staffed with a lead and assistant instructor in each group so students can experience full immersion while also having staff available to support students with developing language skills. Whether your child continues in their target language over the summer or chooses to explore a new language, they are sure to thrive in our engaging and supportive learning environment! 

Variety camps for 3 - 4 year olds run the gamut from soccer to gymnastics, tennis, LEGOs, and Invention Playground!

LANGUAGE

AROUND THE WORLD IN 5 DAYS (week 1, 6/17 - 6/21):

Learners will embark on a 5 day cultural adventure exploring different countries and charting their way around the world while building their French/Spanish/Chinese language skills in an engaging, project based learning environment. 

STORYTELLING (week 2, 6/24 - 6/28)

Kids will learn the art of storytelling while growing their language skills in an engaging, project based learning environment! 

summer steam (week 3, 7/8 - 7/12)

Learners will explore the world of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics while growing their language skills.

TIME TRAVEL (WEEK 4, 7/15 - 7/19)

Learners will travel back in time and explore the history of countries associated with their target language, while continuing to grow their own language skills! 

invention pLAYGROUNDs 1 & 2 (weeks 5 and 6, 7/22 - 7/26 and 7/29 - 8/2)

It’s never too early to start inventing! Invention Playground from the National Inventors Hall of Fame puts preschool campers on the road to creativity with fun and engaging educational programs. Kids will play and learn about STEM concepts, and discover the world around them by learning about other famous inventors. This camp consists of four modules spread over two weeks; families may choose to register for both weeks, or just for one of the weeks. 

VARIETY/SPORTS

CHALLENGER INTERNATIONAL SOCCER TEAM (WEEK 1, 6/17 - 6/21)

ISDenvers’s littlest soccer league will have some fun on the field as kids learn to shoot, pass, and play on a team!

MINI GYMNASTICs (week 2, 6/24 - 6/28)

Cartwheels, handstands, balance beam, hula hoops, rhythm ribbons, and much more! Gymnastics camp with Katie brings high-energy relays, games, and skills to campers at any level of fitness. During this camp, campers will stay active while developing body awareness through skills designed to target large motor coordination, emphasizing teamwork and personal growth. 

mini tennis (week 3, 7/8 - 7/12)

Campers will be introduced to the basics of tennis in this camp (forehand, backhand, serve, and volley), and practice their skills through fun games and drills.

playwell: build it! with duplo (WEEK 4, 7/15 - 7/19)

Build a foundation for engineering with LEGO® Duplo! Create Airplanes, Drawbridges, Seesaws, Windmills, Cranes, and other fun projects in this class for pre-K builders only. Young builders will learn about shapes, colors, patterns, and counting while playing with their creations.

invention pLAYGROUNDs 1 & 2 (weeks 5 and 6, 7/22 - 7/26 and 7/29 - 8/2)

Its’ top priority is to inspire future innovators and build their confidence in the natural ability to dream and create. Children are presented with fun, hands-on challenges that encourage creative problem solving, teamwork, entrepreneurship, and innovation. 

SPORTS/VARIETY

CHALLENGER SOCCER CAMP (WEEK 1, 6/17-6/21):

For many years, Challenger’s British Soccer and TetraBrazil camp programs were delivered exclusively by British and Brazilian coaches, and our coaching material was heavily influenced by those countries. However, the recent World Cup demonstrated to us all just how well developed the game is globally, and it is now time to provide players in the US and Canada with the very best coaching methods and practices from world’s most influential soccer playing nations.The Challenger International Soccer Camp will feature a number of new elements in the curriculum and will also include a groundbreaking technology feature providing players with an app based platform which will help them prepare before camp, learn skills quicker and more efficiently during the camp, and then help them to continue their education and skill development with camp homework and ongoing virtual training throughout their season. After many years of delivering industry leading camps for youth players, we are excited to adapt our coaching methodology to cater to the way that today’s children take in new information and assimilate it. We have created a compelling blend of on-field instruction and off-field engagement that will encourage players to practice and improve.

 
HULA HOOP, CIRCUS ARTS & YOGA (WEEK 2, 6/24-6/28):

Looking to keep your kid entertained this summer, all while getting exercise and having fun? This camp is perfect for your family! Campers will start class by acquiring cool hoop tricks, partner hooping and playing fun games. Afterwards, the kids will dive into circus arts, where your little one will learn everything from juggling to tight rope walking! The last portion of day is all about yoga. Your children will master yoga poses and flow, all while cultivating breath work that can be used in and outside the classroom.


coding with kids: LITTLE CODERS (week 3, 7/8 - 7/12)

Our Little Coders camp is an opportunity for young children to develop their computational thinking skills, build their first programs, and have fun with new friends! The curriculum is designed specifically for early readers and takes into account cognitive abilities as well as the attention span typical for ages 5-7. Students are introduced to basic coding concepts in a variety of ways, from playing coding board games like Robot Turtles to programming their first games or animated stories. We use age-appropriate online tools, including Lightbot, Kodable, and Scratch. After the camp, students will be able to share their projects with family and friends and continue programming at home with their Coding with Kids Scratch account.

PLAYWELL: ADVENTURES IN STEM WITH LEGO® (week 4, 7/15 - 7/19)

Let your imagination run wild with tens of thousands of LEGO® parts! Build engineer-designed projects such as: Trains, Helicopters, Treehouses, and Beam Bridges. Design and build as never before, and explore your craziest ideas in a supportive environment.

BASKETBALL OR GYMNASTICS (WEEK 5, 7/22 - 7/26)

Basketball: Campers will take it to the hoop with a week of interactive drills focusing on the fundamentals of basketball, including dribbling, passing, shooting, offense, defense, and more! This camp will be led by Colorado High School Sports Hall of Fame coach Bob Caton.

TENNIS (WEEK 2, 6/24-6/28):

Learning the basics of serves and swings, campers will learn to love tennis through engaging drills and practice with tennis pros at Meadow Creek Tennis Club.


coding with kids: CODING SCRATCH DEVELOPMENT (week 3, 7/8 - 7/12)

Start your coding journey by creating your own games! Campers will learn the core concepts of computer programming that will lay the foundations for future coding success. A variety of projects, such as chasing games, mazes, and animated stories, will allow campers to express their creativity while learning coding concepts like loops and variables. Our unique curriculum and smaller class size provide personalized instruction that helps students progress at their own pace while being appropriately challenged. Students will have access to their own Scratch account that will allow them to continue their coding journey at home.

CHALLENGER NON-CONTACT RUGBY OR PLAYWELL: STEM EXPLORATIONS WITH LEGO® (WEEK 5, 7/22 - 7/26)

Rugby: In this co-ed non-contact rookie rugby camp, campers practice and play a form of flag rugby- a fun, safe, team game that develops a range of ball handling, running and evasion skills. Students will enjoy a fun, challenging week with hand-picked rugby coaches from the UK, Australia and New Zealand. Each camper will receive a high quality Challenger rugby ball and a Rugby Camp T-shirt. This camp will consist of a half day of rugby and a half day of student choice break out sessions including physical activity, creative activities, and academic activities.

PlayWell: STEM Explorations with LEGO®Level up your engineering skills with Play-Well TEKnologies and tens of thousands of LEGO® parts! Apply real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture through engineer-designed projects such as: Gear Cars, Gondolas, Merry-Go-Rounds, and Scissor Lifts. Design and build as never before, and explore your craziest ideas in a supportive environment.

In addition to the always popular Estes Park Overnight complete with rafting and hiking July 29th - August 2nd, students have the opportunity to participate in an archaeological dig at Crow Canyon June 24th-28th! Both camps include transportation and meals. Outgoing 8th graders are welcome!

CROW CANYON OVERNIGHT (WEEK 2, 6/24-6/28):

Students will depart on Monday and return on Friday for an immersive educational experience at Crow Canyon Archaeological Center. At the Crow Canyon Archaeological Center, we believe that the goal of education is to give students the intellectual tools they need to explore the world and think critically. We also believe that the optimal educational environment encourages students to actively participate in the learning process through hands-on activities and group discussion. core activities teach students about archaeology, ancestral Pueblo Indian (Anasazi) history, the scientific process, and the complex interactions between people and their environments.


coding with kids: python game development (week 3, 7/8 - 7/12)

Ready to learn one of the most widely used programming languages in the world? Then this is the camp to sign up for. Python is a very versatile and easy-to-learn starter language that is widely used by software developers, scientists and data analysts, from medical research to applications at NASA. Through the games they create, campers will learn and practice core coding concepts and learn Python-specific concepts and syntax. Projects range from trivia quizzes to competitive two-player games and everything in between. Campers will gain valuable experience with key concepts such as data structures and algorithms.

invention project (week 4, 7/15 - 7/19)

Invention Project is a unique opportunity for middle schoolers to transform their ideas into real-life inventions. Campers will go through the complete invention life cycle using a program written by the National Inventors Hall of Fame. 

PLAYWELL: ENGINEERING CHALLENGER WITH LEGO® (WEEK 5, 7/22 - 7/26)

Are you ready for the Engineering Challenge? Learn to build mechanical devices such as a scissor lift, air compressor, or drawbridge in this advanced course for our strongest LEGO® builders. Then work in teams to accomplish a large-scale mission such as a minifigure rescue or a Rube Goldberg machine!

ESTES PARK OVERNIGHT TRIP (WEEK 6, 7/29 - 8/2)

Campers will enjoy the great outdoors in this beautiful mountain town. They will stay at the YMCA lodge and participate in activities such as rafting, horseback riding, and rock climbing!

 

 

Camp Logistics

The standard camp day runs from 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM. Morning Care will be available starting at 7:30 each morning for an additional fee of $8 per child per day. Catered lunch will also be available. After Care is available from 3:30 - 5:30 PM each day for no additional cost. Twice weekly there will be the optional opportunity for students 5 years old and older to visit Cook Park Pool during After Care. Transportation via schoolbus will be provided. All students are required to stay in the shallow end of the pool unless they pass a daily swim test with the Cook Park lifeguards. Alternate care is available on campus for students who choose not to visit the pool.

Language Camps will be offered in French, Spanish and Chinese. These camps will be structured using the Project Based Learning framework and the topics will be explored in different levels of complexity in each age group. There will be opportunities throughout the week for the language classes of each age group to come together to learn from each other and from visiting experts. Each Friday afternoon will culminate with a celebration where students will be able to share their learning from the week. Parents are always welcome to attend!

The camps showed as spanning Language & Variety will be offered in the languages and in English. 

CANCELLATION POLICY:

Day camps can be canceled or transferred one month in advance with a full refund, and 10 full business days in advance with a 50% refund. Please see exceptions below. Language camps can be transferred with less than two weeks notice when possible. 

Exceptions: 

  • Overnight trips (Crow Canyon and Estes Park) can be cancelled until March 1st with a $75 cancellation fee and until April 1st with a 50% refund. After April 1st there will be no refunds.
