Humans of ISDenver: Meet Yoyo Sinnott

Humans of ISDenver: Meet Yoyo Sinnott

Get to Know the People Who Make ISDenver Extraordinary

When families explore ISDenver, one of the first things they notice is the warmth, expertise, and global perspective of our faculty. Our teachers are the heart of our school. Few embody that spirit more fully than Yoyo Sinnott, ECE Lead Teacher and Co-leader of our Chinese program.

A Global Educator With Deep Expertise

Originally from Beijing, Yoyo brings more than twenty years of early childhood teaching experience across China, Saudi Arabia, and the United States. She holds both an associate and bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, is certified in Colorado as a Large Center Director, and has been part of the ISDenver community since 2015.

Her leadership in the Chinese Program, paired with her joyful, student‑centered approach, helps shape an immersion experience that is both academically rigorous and full of heart.

Why Families Love Yoyo

One of Yoyo’s favorite ISDenver traditions is inviting parents into the classroom for story time and PYP activities. She loves watching families bring their own creativity and cultural perspectives into the learning space.

“Seeing parents jump in and become part of our little dragons’ learning journey is one of the things that makes ISDenver so special.”

A Community That Feels Like a Little International Village

When Yoyo describes ISDenver to someone new, she uses three words: welcoming, fun, and international.

Students begin learning languages early, choosing Chinese, French, or Spanish from K1 through G10. Walk across campus and you’ll hear multiple languages being spoken—it’s a daily reminder that our students are growing into confident, globally minded learners.

Our teachers, students, and families work closely together, celebrating traditions, sharing cultures, and building a community where curiosity thrives.

The Magic of Teaching Chinese to Our "Little Dragons"

For Yoyo, the most special part of teaching Chinese is watching students transform from hesitant beginners to joyful communicators.

“I love seeing their confidence grow and watching them discover that Chinese can be fun, silly, and exciting. Those little ‘Aha!’ moments are the best part of my day.”

Those moments, when language becomes play, connection, and pride, are at the heart of ISDenver’s immersion model.

Building Executive Functioning in Middle School

Middle School is a time when students learn how to manage increasing academic complexity, and our new Guided Study structure gives them the tools to do exactly that. Through intentional instruction in executive functioning, we help students build the planning, organization, and self‑management skills they’ll need for high school and beyond. Families play an essential role too, partnering with us to reinforce these habits at home.
