Why I chose ISDenver for my two kids. And what makes us stay.
Before I joined our Admissions team, I was a mom at ISDenver. I am Angela Starks, a Doctor of Nursing Practice, a pediatric nurse practitioner, and a bit of a neuroscience geek. What can I say, I love the brain. And the bilingual brain? Wow.
If I’m honest, it was the intrigue of a bilingual education that first drew me to explore ISDenver for my two kids. It is the compelling data behind the benefits of a bilingual brain that not only keeps us at the school, however, but that also motivated me to leave a twenty-year livelihood in the medical field so I can share it with anyone interested in exploring it for themselves.
If you’re anything like me, then research and outcomes are important to you - which is probably why you found your way to this blog post today. I get it, you have important decisions in front of you for the education of your family.
Here are three great resources for you to review.
-
The benefits of immersion and an International Baccalaureate Education to the brain. Written by yours truly, I wrote everything I would have wanted to know in your shoes, including why the immersion and IB educational model are a powerful duo in shaping the brain.
-
Assessment Data. Our students are meeting and exceeding the norms for their age levels across language usage, reading, and math - while in a bilingual immersion school setting.
-
Portrait of a Graduate. The research and assessment data are decisive. But, wow, our alumni? They are impressive. Our alums are doing extraordinary things in their fields of study and careers. We see time and time again how doors open for our alumni because of their deep language background and sophistication in other subject area like mathematics and robotics.
Let’s talk! I’d love to chat with you about the compelling data, answer your questions, and show you how our IB and immersion language model comes to life in the classroom. Call me at 303.340.3647 ext. 149 or email me anytime at admissions@isdenver.org.
