Technology Enhancements
There might not be a better visual for Community Giving than in the realm of technology. Over the past four years, your community giving dollars have supported a wide range of programs that covers all our students, ECE through MYP.
ISDenver has been a step ahead during the pandemic response with sheltering at home and the ability to gear toward virtual learning. As Tony Hillier, Director of Technology at ISDenver, explains: “Community Giving supports our 1:1 device initiatives in the Lower School and Upper School, the iPad program in ECE, and teacher technology such as laptops, projectors, and document cameras.” Thanks to this program, ISDenver did not have to scramble to provide technology to students when the campus shut down in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and virtual learning was able to be implemented almost immediately.
Technology manipulatives such as Drones, Spheros, BeeBots, ProBots, and EV3 Mindstorms have taken 21st-century skills to the next level. Students are learning about robotic behaviors, and solving real-world problems such as drone delivery. They are building on their problem-solving, analytical, and logical thinking skills, by programming and debugging EV3, Drones, and Spheros, Tony goes on to explain.
These are all things that are visible reminders of community dollars in action. Other community giving dollars have been spent on items that cannot be seen, such as applications to help keep students safe while using the internet, and professional development for teachers to be trained and certified in using this technology. Then there are the items that can definitely be seen and heard such as the digital signage, gym stage lighting, gym stage projection, and the gym sound.
Here’s a look at Community Giving dollars in action:
- Drones
- Spheros
- Lego EV3 Mindstorms
- Ozobots
- Safety and security applications
- BeeBots
- ProBots
- Chromebooks
- Projectors
- Digital Signage
- Gym Sound
- Gym Lights
- Gym Projection equipment (projector and screen)
- Teacher Professional Development
- Teacher Laptops
Without the tremendous support of Community Giving, our tech initiatives at ISDenver would not be nearly as successful. Thank you to everyone who has supported these efforts!
