Student Ambassador Work Underway

Student Ambassador Work Underway

In the inaugural year of the program, our ISDenver Student Ambassadors are working hard on setting a school environment in which all students feel welcome, safe, and involved, all while helping to build a stronger international community at our school.

Under the leadership of Elizabeth Souba, ISDenver School Counselor, the students have created both events and year-long programs for the entire school community. They started with Country of the Month, a series where the Ambassadors create a short video presentation about another country and present it to all students at division-wide assemblies. With this, the students "celebrate our international community, and give all students the opportunity to learn about countries outside our three target language programs," said Souba.

This month, the students presented on India:

Along with the Country of the Month, the Ambassadors also arranged ISDenver's first ever "Mix it Up Lunch" activities for students in grades 1-8. "The September assemblies theme was based on the IB characteristic of being a "Risk Taker," and what better way then to step out of the usual routine for one lunch and talk to at least one new classmate outside of his/her language program?" added Souba.

Lastly, the Ambassadors have also supported our school Admissions department. When prospective students visit, they are paired up with one of the Ambassadors in the desired language program for a Shadow Day and a student-led tour, to give them a better perspective on student life at ISDenver.

Only one month into the school year, our Ambassadors have been making a real difference on campus. Through staff facilitation, the Student Ambassadors will continue to learn leadership skills, peer collaboration, and self-confidence throughout the year. We look forward to their next steps!
