Spanish Director awarded prestigious Golden Key Grant from the Embassy of Spain
On November 23rd, 2024, the Spanish Educational Embassy hosted its annual Embassy of Spain Luncheon, an important event dedicated to celebrating Spanish culture through food, music, and education. This gathering serves as a platform to showcase the various programs and master's degrees offered by Spanish universities, particularly those focused on teaching Spanish as a second language. The event is highly significant, drawing key figures from the bilingual education community, including the president of ACTFL and other distinguished guests.
This year, the International School of Denver had the honor of being represented as a guest at the presidential table. María Rodríguez Marcos, the Early Childhood Education Principal and Spanish Program Director at ISDenver had the privilege of sitting alongside Dr. Jesús Fernández González, the Education Counselor for the U.S. and Canada. Dr. Jesús Fernández González personally recognized Maria for her unwavering dedication and support in advancing bilingual education.
As a highlight of the event, María was awarded one of the three coveted Golden Key Grants, a prestigious distinction from the Embassy of Spain. This grant covers all expenses for attending the Spanish Language Convention in La Rioja, a remarkable opportunity for professional growth and cultural exchange.
I am deeply honored by both recognitions. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Spanish Educational Embassy, especially to Dr. Jesús Fernández González, for his exceptional leadership and guidance during his five years as the Education Counselor. It is an honor to collaborate with the Office of Education and their excellent team.
