The importance of getting involved - 3 special opportunities to volunteer in 24/25.

The importance of getting involved - 3 special opportunities to volunteer in 24/25.

We are preparing for the next school year with great volunteer opportunities that will benefit you, your child, and our community.

Volunteering can help you connect with teachers, staff, other parents, and your child's classmates. It can foster trust, communication, and stronger relationships. It is also a great way to show your child you care.

Being involved in your child's school shows them that you care about their education and that it's a family value. We have 3 special opportunities to volunteer for the next school year.

1) Dragon Parent Association News: Room Parents Wanted!

  • Calling All Room Parents!
    • While we don’t have classroom assignments finalized yet, we are in recruitment mode for Room Parents (K1 through G3). Please share your interest and we’ll be in touch after school begins with room assignments.
    • This year we are also looking for parents to manage WhatsApp parent groups for G4 - G8 classes. It’s a lower lift than being a Room Parent, but an important role for community building.
    • We assign parents on a first come, first served basis, but also try and rotate so your Room Parents are not the same each year.
  • Dragon Buddies are Matched!
    • Thanks to all of our returning families who signed up to buddy up with a new ISDenver family!
    • If you haven't already, you'll be receiving an email shortly with your Dragon Buddy match.
    • Have questions or haven't signed up and still want to get involved? Please contact Kaitlyn Ward or Carol Kleiner, DPA Dragon Buddy Co-Chairs.
  • And as always, please reach out to Janet Yenter if you have any feedback or questions about community events and volunteer opportunities.

2) Looking for Library Volunteers

  • Our library is seeking parent volunteers for the 2024-25 school year. Library volunteers are an integral part of the library program and help enrich our student's academic environment.
  • These volunteers typically help with shelving and processing books, along with special projects and activities such as reading in classrooms, the book fair, and library special events.
  • Volunteers can come in weekly at set times, or whenever they time in their schedule. It is very helpful to get volunteers that speak our target languages as well!
  • Interested in helping this year? Contact Dr. Holly Freeman now!

3) Seeking Host Families for Spanish Language Assistant

  • We are looking for one or a few families to host our Language and Culture Assistant from Spain, Pablo Redondo González.
  • Learn more about Pablo and this unique opportunity here.
  • This is a wonderful opportunity to share the warmth of our community while going all-in on the immersion experience for your family.
