The ISDenver community collectively contributed over $1,000,000 during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 years to invest in our school's growth. Philanthropic investments make a tangible impact on our learners, faculty, and programs. Here are a few ways:
ISDenver recently enhanced our learning and performing space for assemblies and performances. Upgrades include enhanced projection, lighting, and sound. Ultimately, when children have quality surroundings, the level of their activity follows, as they perform in their ideal environment!
Learners simply do better when they have physical activity (don’t we all!). ISDenver has recently "upped our game" by providing the resources and equipment so that our youngest students develop proprioception skills and our competitive athletes have greater access to practice and competition space and official jerseys; funding new equipment so that faculty can expand the physical education curriculum; and launching our first-ever outstanding athlete award.
Classrooms Without Walls – experiential learning, if you will – brings our students into the community, and brings the community to our students, faculty, and families. Service learning is key to global citizenship; expendable resources enable projects for all learners, regardless of age. Through this initiative, we're bringing presentations to campus, including Jayme Stone's LOMAX project, professional development on Project-Based Learning, and the bilingualism talk from Dr. Gigi Luk. We are also sending our learners out into the world for opportunities such as the National History Bee championships, increased athletics activities, and on a student art-buying initiative to help develop a mobile gallery via the Cherry Creek Arts Festival.
2015-16 Community Giving dollars supported the expansion of ISDenver's Chromebooks program to give greater access to Lower School students, added mini iPads to ECE classrooms, and upgraded the network across the campus.
Can a child ever have enough room to roam, or structures or climb over? Imaginations run even more wild as our K3 and 1st grade students explore their new playground, with honeycomb stairs, a log to climb through and over, multiple slides, and ample shade to keep their busy brains and bodies cool.
On the heels of a record-shattering Gala 2016, we are proud to now have a building entirely dedicated to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Music. In addition to an entire floor of labs (design, science, and Mac) complete with robots, 3D printers, and group-based room layouts, the building also has an entire floor each for music (with private and group practice and instruction rooms!) and the arts (lighting and storage / display space that actively supports curriculum!).
