Why Our Founding Families Chose ISDenver

So many reasons! We wanted her to be academically challenged to reach her full potential and an environment where she wouldn't get lost in the mix. We didn't want her abilities diminished by a "lowest common denominator" environment in a larger school. We want her to play sports and compete athletically, but also learn a balanced approach to athletics that will encourage lifelong activity rather than burnout.

High School Admissions Process

ISDenver High School maintains rigorous admissions standards to ensure all students are prepared for the academic challenges of the IB Diploma Programme. We are committed to building a high-quality learning community regardless of class size. We've designed our High School admissions process to be supportive and transparent for all families. Our admissions committee evaluates each applicant's readiness for our rigorous IB program and their potential to contribute to the vibrant ISDenver community.

For students entering Grade 9-10 from ACIS schools, we have a streamlined process designed to make the transition as smooth as possible. Applications for the 2026-27 school year must be completed by January 30, 2026 for priority admission. High School admissions decisions will be released according to ACIS timelines on February 20, 2026 at 4:00pm (MT).

General Application Process

The following is required for all applicants to ISDenver’s High School from schools outside of the ACIS network.

Student and Parent Essays: Completed as part of the online application.
Teacher Recommendations: We require recommendations from your current English, Math, and Language teachers (if applicable).
Principal or Counselor Recommendation: A recommendation is required from your current principal or counselor.
Standardized Testing: The ISEE or another standardized test taken during the fall of your 8th-grade year.
Interview and School Visit: All applicant families are required to visit the school and interview with our admissions team
Student Shadow Visit: A student shadow visit is an essential step in our process. It's a great way for you to experience a day in the life of an ISDenver student and determine if our community feels like the right fit.

Applicants from ACIS Accredited Schools

To ease the transition for middle school students from ACIS K-8 schools, we have created a simplified admissions process that removes several of the general requirements for students of schools in our accreditation network.

Transcripts: We require transcripts from your current school.
Standardized Test Scores: Please submit all standardized test scores from tests taken within the last two years.
School Recommendation: Teacher recommendations for English and Math
Student Shadow Visit: A student shadow visit is an essential step in our process. It's a great way for you to experience a day in the life of an ISDenver student and determine if our community feels like the right fit.
Parent Interview: Preferred, but optional, come chat with us about the academic model, the curriculum, and how your family fits into ISDenver.
School Tour: Whether at an Open House or a private tour, we strongly encourage a campus tour to experience our community firsthand.
