Head of School, Bob Carignan
Bob Carignan has enjoyed a diverse career in finance and education, through which he has cultivated a unique ability to both administratively lead as Head of School while also connecting with and mentoring students. After graduating from Brown University with a degree in English and Economics, Bob traded financial derivatives for various firms on the Chicago exchange. After moving to Boise, Idaho with his then-young family, Bob followed his lifelong passion and pursued a career in education. He received a Masters of Education from Boise State University, joined Riverstone International School in 2002 as an English, History, and Economics teacher, during which time he played a key role in the development of the School’s English curriculum, gaining authorization with the International Baccalaureate Organization, and developing their highly acclaimed college counseling program. Bob has participated in the National Association of Independent School’s (NAIS) Aspiring Heads Program, was awarded a fellowship to attend the Head of School Program at the Klingenstein Teachers College at Columbia University, and then spent the past seven years serving Riverstone as their Head of School. His wife of 31 years, Laurel, runs a financial services company; together they have two children, Jackson, 24, and Cat, 20. As a family they enjoy hiking and skiing, and are excited to explore all that Colorado has to offer.
